£45 milion spent on a Dalham Hall mansion by rich Sheikh

sh.mohd-official-photoA whopping sum of £45million has been spent on a country estate by one of the world’s richest men, in spite of losing £4billion during the recession. The up grade II-listed Dalham Hall was snapped by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. The 18th century house was once owned by Cecil Rhodes, who gave his name to Rhodesia. The mansion has 3,300 acres of farmland, parkland and woods, and 39 homes.

Already the adjoining 3,000 acre Dalham Hall stud, near Newmarket, Suffolk is owned by Maktoum, from where he runs his global blood-stock empire. It was specified by estate agent Rupert Sweeting, “It’s the highest amount fetched by a country estate this year.” It has been learnt that the grounds would be used for shooting by Maktoum – whose fortune dropped to £8billion in the credit crunch.
