Luxury hotel chain Fairmont has released more details about what will be on offer at London’s The Savoy hotel. The Fairmont says that the hotel will “reclaim its position as one of the world’s great hotels"
New highlights include nine “Personality Suites” which pay tribute to the well known figures that have stayed in the hotel such as Maria Callas, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra and Marlene Dietrich. The suites contain artwork, literature, photographs and artifacts that evoke the time and spirit of the stars including the 12 pink roses in the Marlene Dietrich Suite that the actress always requested upon arrival.
The 350-square-foot Royal Suite, the most luxurious in the property, features two bedrooms, a study, sitting room, dining room, master bathroom and a dressing room with a specially ventilated shoe closet, all with views of the city. The hotel’s historic River Restaurant and American bar will return, along with the Gordon-Ramsay operated Savoy Grill and the new Beaufort Bar and Savoy Tea.
Guests will be able to enjoy the services of a “Green Butler,” Fairmont said October 6, providing guests with advice on “all things green” in London. This innovation is in line with the new eco-friendly features introduced by the hotel, which include systems that reclaim kitchen heat to provide hot water, recycling processes to turn cooking oil into biofuels, a waste management system to recycle up to 90 percent of waste from the property and a combined heat and power plant to reduce energy consumption.
The Savoy is one of the most-high profile properties in London, but it will face increased competition over the coming years from other luxury hotels.
